Good news for all SEO marketers that Adobe finally gets their lethal player searchable. But hold on, don’t be too excited about it. An insider view from SEO and production man, we strongly believe it’s only a beginning of enabling. Don’t dream about you could have structured content to index within your current swf file. Here, I have few suggestions to all website owners and production people on how to make SWF better:
1/ Make sure your site’s SWF will compatible to Adobe’s new Searchable SWF library. There’s a spec doc linkage inside, to give you a clear spec of what RIA setting.
2/ Again, this latest improvement may only benefits to those have a separate-page structure website. Spiderbot could emulate human click, but yet to be advanced enough to separate page for you.
3/ Image still be invisible to spiderbot, quick fix is to make your vivid graphic buttons inside to text based hyperlink
4/ Linking (both inbound and outbound) is still problem, but yet have enough info to support me to report here.
Good luck! Final word, if you have plan and budget to change your flash site, I think you’d better to move on. I believe you will be benefited no matter how far this update goes. At least within these 1-2 years of time, I can’t see the destination for making this as search-friendly as we do in HTML. For more update, you may refer to this Google webmaster guideline.
